William Wilberforce, in his attempt to rid England of the slave trade, tirelessly worked not only in the legislature, but in the population, educating them to the horrors of slavery. In the movie Amazing Grace, he had his comrades arrange a "pleasure cruise" with some rich and influential people. What the guests didn't realize is that their relaxing afternoon boat ride would intersect "by chance" with Wilberforce and the smells and the sights of a slave ship.
The South Carolina State Legislature voted overwhelmingly to require that every woman getting an abortion be required to first view an ultrasound of her own baby. In the spirit of Wilberforce, I say to the legislature of South Carolina, "Well done!"
