I Was Asked About the Lakeland, FL Revival

So I went looking. The man at the center of it is named Todd Bentley. I found a long prophetic word by him and the teaching that went with it. I was going to post it and discuss that, but then I found this video. Watch this for yourself. I will not give you any commentary, good or bad. You tell me what you think.

surely this is some sick comedy skit. I can't imagine anyone saying anything like this let alone the audience laughing. It just sickens me.

Nonsense! Anyone that wouldn't get up out of their seats and run out of this building is a total....well, I want to be nice so I won't say it. Let's just say Balaam had one.

This is the same guy who claims to have regular visits from angels. Read this nonsense http://www.etpv.org/2003/angho.html

I wasn't saying "nonsense" to anonymous above. I was saying Mr Bentley's whole story was nonsense.

I agree, it sickens me as well. And unfortunately, I believe this man is serious and wants people to believe his silly story.

I wonder if God ever tells him to just pat someone on the shoulder or shake somebody's hand. Maybe brush a strand of hair out of their face?

Must it always be revival a la WWF?

the reason I asked about Lakeland, FL is because before we started going to Harvest in 02, we attended the New Life Center AG in Ford City. We went to Harvest for a year and moved so it was too far a drive. now we are back.

Background info. My dad is an AG pastor and my little brother is an AG youth pastor. So Assemblies of God is dear to me.

I read Pastor craigs blog from the NLC and I noticed he had a post saying "I took away my former post about Todd Bentley because I'm not sure about him and what is going on in Florida. There are some more things I need to check out. I ask for your forgiveness for the post. I do not want to lead anyone astray and I feel I need to check into things more before I post anything else about what is going on in Florida."

So I asked my mom what that meant. She said that there was revivals going on at an AG church in fl with an evangelist and lots of healings etc. She said that a few people are gun ho on it from my old church. But that a lot of us have raised eyebrows about it all. Just an unsure if it is good and God or not....

So I really did not KNOW a lot about it, just wondered if you had heard anything.

Wow... I know that God is bold and that he uses strange ways sometimes. Spitting on his hands and rubbing it in an blind mans eyes... but ... that is really violent.

Thanks for looking into it. After I posted the other night, I thought... oh I should not have said anything because it must not be that well known so it might not be anything at all. But you cannot edit once you submit on here.

Very interesting. I do not think I will be taking any trips to FL in the near future. :)

Hahahaha...
I don't know who's giving this guy his direction, but it surely isn't God.

And what does he even mean when he says the gift of faith came over him?

He must have been joking...

I would prefer to not pass judgment on this individual as the clip is clearly a fragment of the entire message. I'm sure there were other points within the sermmon that if viewed as a whole would probably help you draw different conclusions. IMO we concentrate too much on the delivery of the message and not the message itself.

MandyGee - think you're in need of a little leg drop yourself.

Lori - Wait till you see my spirit-inspired sermon illustrations for this weeks sermon on 1 Samuel 18. Look it up. Prepare to lose teeth!

Chris V - You need more faith. Can't you tell this isn't a joke? Revival is here brotha!

by the way, this guy is not joking. Don't believe me, youtube him and enjoy.

To not judge and to not discern his words are two different things. I do not send him to heaven nor hell. that's up to God. However, let's be clear, vocalizing objections to this man is not only a good idea, I feel morally obligated to be very honest especially since asked.

This man needs to be publicly opposed by all faithful men. He is making a mockery of the gospel and staining the name of Jesus with his theatrics and his profiteering. He is what Paul called a man whose "god is his belly."

Yes, Lindai, there are many fine AOG pastors and I applaud your pastor friend for his willingness to publicly retract any public endorsement of this man. This was what I would have done in his place also.

Anyone who can't see the error of this man and people like him is indeed in great spiritual danger.

Compare his story of his vision of the "Angel of Finance" to Ezekiel 28 starting in verse 12. Scary.

You can see that video I think on YouTube or at www.bloodtippedears.blogspot.com.

Laura, it is clear that you are ahead of the game on these issues. I'd urge everyone interested in these issues to follow the link Laura provided to hear more indepth discussions.

Anon folks, don't do it. It's a whole nest of "divisive" pastors and that might overwhelm you.

(by the way, that last comment is funny. I don't care who you are.)

I'd like to see him try his act in Jersey!

Hey Mike I bet nobody falls asleep during his sermons....Better yet, those tactics could be used on Browns fans!! LOL

Seriously though, that is scary. Makes me wonder why people do what they do in the name of God...you know, drink kool-aid, wait for mother ships etc...They make it so difficult when it is so simple. Notice I didn't say easy.
