A Great Time Listening!

There are so many Christian teachers out there, but so few worth listening to. Strong words? Maybe, but I'm serious. So much of what is taught and preached is just plain boring. If not boring, it is often sloppy in it's thinking or muddled in it's theology. Then, there are volumes of stuff that is downright unethical use of the Word of God --those who sensationalize themselves all the way to the bank.

But the internet allows more access to more teachers at lower cost. One I have found that I enjoy quite a bit is Mark Driscol from Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington.

He's not your average preacher guy. Some are put off by his casual, almost grungy approach to communicating, but I think his style is one for an age when people are really suspicious of anything that looks slick or contrived.

REDEEMING RUTH is a series of messages that many people I know have been getting into, seemingly on their own. It's like a wave, or something. I had all the messeages on my ipod (automatically downloaded), but this week I was in the car with Lorrie for many hours and she wanted to listen to them. So, we listened to all six messages in a row. Great stuff.

I recommend them to you highly. As a pastor and a preacher, I would go so far as to say this: If you only listen to six messages this year, make it these. Good stuff.

Here is where you can find them, both in audio and video, and of course, absolutely free. Isn't the internet great! If you have listened to these or if you do, let me know your thoughts.

yes, very good. (we heard about it from Mandy) he has other good stuff too. AND driving time is good date time, way to go. I'm sure Lorrie appreciates it! I heard that Mark Driscol and his wife listen to Pastor Mike Greiner while they drive.

I have listened to this sermon series and agree that it was fantastic. As a man who has reached a point in his life where all romance and marriage teachings have become somewhat irrelevant, I was by God's grace immensely blessed by these messages. And for anyone, male or female, young or old, you will be inspired to be a "redeemer". To be honorable and above reproach in all your dealings. That no matter how bleak or painful your life has become, you can by God's grace be used like Boaz, as a redeemer, for God's glory. Bottom line: Listen to this series. It DOES apply to you.

Oh, by the way. You talk about waves. Alistair Begg was preaching on Ruth at the same time that Mark Driscoll. He called his series, "The God of the Ordinary.".

Now Driscoll is preaching on Nehemiah. Chuck Swindoll, just finished his series on Nehemiah, but that was a re-broadcast of his sermon series that he did on Nehemiah 34 YEARS AGO! 34 years!? Can you believe it. And it was fresh, and solid preaching, but then again, we shouldn't really be surprised. The Word of God is timeless.

maybe I "heard" was "evangelistically speaking"... we should probably let them in on it :)I'm sure they would be blessed by our church.

Well, if Driscol did start listening, he might steal my material. Better not to let him know we're here. :)
