Nothing in life was ever the same in my mind after that day. The world became a different place.
I believe it was our wake up call to do something to protect our children and future generations. George Bush may not be perfect, but he had the guts to do something - something he thought was the right thing.
We'll never know how much protection we will ultimately achieve from our actions, that depends on how we proceed from here. Do we abandon those we pledged to help? How evil that would be. And for personal political reasons at that.
Whether democrat or republican, if you act on behalf of your own best interests and not those of the country you are hurting us. I think us citizens are feeling the torture.
Yes, Lorrie, you are right. We have taken the fight to them. If we were to stop everything right now, I think we still are much better off than we were ten years ago. We are watching, we are warned, and we are fighting.
Wizard, I'll answer this, but I don't want to argue. I know we won't agree. But I want you to know I do hear your questions.
The strategy to fight terror includes Iraq. The people who are trying to keep order and peace away from Iraq is Al Queda. That is the present reality. the very Saudi based and Iranian based terror groups who have perpetrated terror on us all over the world understand this: that's why they are there fighting. They know that a peaceful Iraq and a peaceful afghanistan, with governments that don't endure islamic radicalism, will hurt them. so they are the ones we are fighting. To put it crudely, "We are killing the right peole." Are soldiers are literally shooting at Muslims who want to kill all Americans and will do it anywhere they can.
It is naive to not see the inter-relatedness of all the muslim dominated states. This is the fight on terror, regardless of who carried out 9-11.
Beyond that, there are many facts that I know we won't agree on. Like that terrorist were using Iraq for training grounds, that Saddam Hussein made for a more unstable middle east and was dangerous and willing to work with our enemies, etc. I could quote sources and facts, but we both know it will be a waste of time. experience has shown that you don't believe my sources, thinking them all tainted, and will respond with quotes from all over to defend your position. I don't want to go through that exercise, personally.
we disagree. I wish we didn't but I have no idea how to change that. debating doesn't work, though.

I pray for peace.
We have taken the fight to whom? Iraq, as even Bush has admitted, had nothing to do with 9/11.
