I have to admit, I can't believe it took this long for someone to try this. There was a fictional book about someone finding Jesus' bones that a friend of mine read years ago and told me he enjoyed. It is the ultimate publicity stunt!
Are these the bones of Jesus? Of course not. No Archeologist worth his salt says so. No reconstruction of the past history could make it plausable. Only the ignorant or the dogmatic would entertain such ideas. And yet, there it is.
Part of me says the guy who thought this ruse up should be struck by lightening for blasphemy. But, part of me, I must confess, smiles. He may be blasphemous, but he is also shrewd. Remember, it was our Lord who pointed out that the citizens of this fallen world are more wise in dealing with the "mammon of unrighteousness" (money) than are the children of the Kingdom.
Thoughts?

I've got the elephat man's bones in my attic. You want to make a documentary proving that the Mormon's were right and that Jesus's bones are buried somewhere in South Dakota??
the elephant man's bones? that is so cool. Is it the real elephant man, or david bowie?
Either way, I think we can work with it.
I watched this last night, mostly because I like historical shows, etc.
I suspected going in it would be bunk, and it pretty much was.
There are serious holes in his limited "evidence", and his logic in coming to his conclusions is even more flawed.
It was labeled as a "docudrama", and we have scene a few of those recently. They are worthless as references, but somewhat entertaining to a limited audience.
I don't think there is anything wrong with having my beliefs challanged. It just makes them stronger.
Wizard, thanks for commenting on something. I must be losing my ability to relate to people because this is the first comment on any post I've had in about a week!
If Jesus' bones were in that tomb, it would be hard to verify, I know. you'd think there would be some dislocated shoulders, some mangled metatarsals (hand bones) or at least bones in the wrist, etc.
Perhaps the easiest problem is that it would have been impossible to keep Jesus' body location and his wife a secret in the first century. Christianity started with a bang, not a whimper. people wanted to stop it badly. Not just the jewish establishment, and they certainly did, but also the Romans quickly turned on it. The apostle Paul was himself a prominant Jew who persecuted the church and wanted to stop Christianity. He, being who he was, would have known Joseph of Arimathea personally, and been able to find the grave he was laid in. Instead, after several years of crusading, he does an about face and says he saw him too!
I haven't seen the documentary yet, but I caught part of Ted Koppel's round table talk on it. Ted wasn't convinced. Now if Ted, an admitted man of "no religion" didn't think there was enough evidence, that should at least give us pause.
anyway, good to hear from you. hope all is well with you and yours.
