I Did It!!!

(The picture represents victory --the body looks like mine!)

I didn't see a single NCAA Men's tourney game, nor did I know what was happening! It wasn't that hard either. I have to admit, I slipped only once: While opening up the ESPN website, in a glance, last night, I saw that Ohio State and Florida were playing. But, I didn't watch the game and didn't discover the outcome till today! Yay me!

Also, I made the mistake of thinking I was successful as far as the ladies go, for I expected the ladies tournament to be over (for feminists out there, the word "ladies" used to refer to women as a way of showing respect, I mean "women's NCAA"). Boy was I wrong. So, checking to see who won, I now know that Tennessee and Rutgers will battling that out tonight. Go Rutgers. I'm not watching!

You know, for all the millions in advertising money that went into that tourney, it feels good to know I ducked the whole thing. Life feels complete.

Andy, you may think you did better, but that's because you clearly are not involved in the same level of the American Sports Entertainment subculture that I am.

Daily, ESPN.com gets visits from me (to go with my espn mag). Likewise, on the weekends, and late nights I troll the t.v. for highlights and scores from the world of Hockey (Penguins are hot), the Pheonix Suns (most fun team in B-ball), NASCAR (Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon doing good this year), Baseball (Pirates and Yankees), and off-season football news (including Penn State Recruiting, upcoming draft info, off-season trades and signings, etc).

Collecting this info is a somewhat sophisticated process. To stay in tuned with certain sports and not know what is happening in "March Madness" aka, the NCAA men's 64-team basketball tourney, is quite a feat.

I'm giving myself a trophy for it, actually.

michal,
I'm not watching because I have no favorite team in the tourney, AND, I wanted to see if I could avoid the hype, just for fun.
